Pete came back from India and he’d scheduled in a flying visit to Falmouth – literally. He drove to Gatwick at the crack of sparrows, flew (late would you believe) to Newquay, hired a car and drove down to Falmouth. All for a couple of hours mucking about in a boat… Not exactly much of a boat, but a bit more of a boat than previously! I think the term is that the ‘bulk heads’ are in, or going in. What the picture gives the sense of is that the living space inside Whinchat is taking ‘ship shape’. Pete said that he had much more sense of what it would be inside, but then he does have a good imagination! He said it was worth the trip (note, I stayed in Sussex!). It nearly ended in disaster though. At the end of his very long day, he was just about home, when he found himself the wrong side of a ditch! He has no recollection of what happened, but he cleared a T-junction and the said ditch, parking in a hedge. His jeans were muddy, but thankfully that was the extent of the damage… When the recovery team came to pull it out later that evening, they said he wasn’t the first to do it, and he won’t be the last. Needless to say I have put my foot down – no more silly schedules and visits to Falmouth, boat or not. We are due again in December, so hopefully the events around the trip will be less eventful….
