Whinchat has once again been overwintered in the water, snuggly in Universal Marina. She’s currently on a temporary river mooring (a sublet), but in a couple of weeks will be heading west for her annual visit to Falmouth.
The voodoo of the ultrasonic antifouling system is amazing, as can be seen in the picture above. No weed growth (except a little on the anodes), but just some Hamble slime to be scrubbed off. We’re really pleased with the results.
The overnight in the RAF Yacht Club’s scrubbing bay was particularly stressful (as winds gusted 35+ knots); the skipper hadn’t made the best weather decision in his non-sailing career! I wished that I’d gone to pilates, as planned. No matter, no real damage done (scratches come out, don’t they?). Whinchat is good to go for her summer cruise…. The question is, are we?!
