Launching Whinchat after ‘wintering’

Whinchat has had something of a break from the water, having spent almost two months on the park & float carpark at Falmouth, under the safe care of Rustler Yachts.  She’s had a bit of work done (such as a sonic antifouling system), a good tickle underneath and a boat tent added.  Well, after being marooned in Yealm last summer, we decided then that we’d have one built.  You can see it in the picture above…

Pete drove her around to Mylor, where we’re basing ourselves untill we head off for Scotland.  I hadn’t really expected on testing out said tent as much as we have done… The glorious weather that has been in place more or less since we got back from New Zealand has finally broken… right over Cornwall!  Storms, high winds and rain.  Not exactly what we’ve had in mind.  Still, it’s given us a chance to check a few things out, and also time to sort out one or two things too.  In a lull in the wind (7pm last night) we put back on the Yankee!  The water pump is playing up today (Sunday) so another thing to be looked at tomorrow.  I’m rather hoping that we’ll get to sail her soon, otherwise the sea legs that we need won’t be in place to head across the Irish Sea.  You watch it though, the weather will deliver near perfect conditions over the weekend when we’re partying in London, and then turn wild just as we plan to head out to sea.
